TRAVIS E. SALES

Director of Parks and Recreation
Howdy Y’all, I am a native Texan and raised in Mesquite, Texas. I relocated to Rockwall in 2016 after retiring with 32 years of service as the Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation in Mesquite. My new career with Rockwall Parks and Recreation began in July 2017. I have degrees in Ornamental Horticulture and Business Administration (Management). My favorite work practices are Agronomy, Horticulture, Entomology and Arboriculture which are my passion. My hobbies at home are spending time with my wife of 34 years, traveling to Disney World to hang out with the Mouse, Martial Arts, specifically Jeet Kune Do and finally Dallas Stars Hockey STH. If you see me in one of our parks, I will be the person looking at the turfgrass through a hand held microscope or taking soil moisture and temperature readings, so drop by, say hi and let me talk to you about turfgrass and our beautiful parks.

Hi! I am a proud Texas native and grew up in the Rockwall area. I probably love working and living here more than anyone you know! I have been working in city government for over 20 years and in Rockwall the past 11. I have been married for 19 years and have 3 kids. I enjoy watching my kids play sports, attending sporting events and listening to live music. My hobbies are fishing, kayaking, and walks (and sometimes running) in our beautiful parks.

Athletics & Aquatics Supervisor
After spending the first 15 years of my life in Rockwall, I moved out to the country and then returned to work for the City over 23 years ago. I worked for the City of Rockwall Parks Department for 18 years and have spent the last five years in the City of Mesquite. I now live in Caddo Mills with my wife of 19 years, Christi, and our son Brayden(14). We have a 19 year old daughter named Summer who is out on her own now. In the summer of 2021 I discovered the best type of fishing ever invented, Surf fishing. I enjoy disc golf and I love baseball (Go Rangers). We are very active in our Church and are part of the staff that leads a rapidly growing group of middle school and high school students in the youth group. I am excited about the opportunity to move from Parks to Recreation and expand my knowledge of the Parks and Recreation department.

Howdy! I am class of 2019 graduate from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas (Whoop!). My favorite hobbies include playing hockey, hanging out with family, and fishing. I grew up in Allen, Texas just north of the Metroplex, where my passion for the Parks and Recreation industry and municipal government really grew. On the weekends you can often catch me watching Aggie sporting events, The New England Patriots, or the Boston Bruins!

Park Superintendent
Hello! I was born and raised in Rockwall and my family has been in Rockwall county since the 1800’s. I enjoy church, dirt track racing, Yellow Jacket Football and hanging out with my wife and 5 kids. I have been working for Rockwall over 20 years and I hope to make it 20 more. Being in a Rockwall park is very special to me because I think about how I may be standing in the very spot where my great grandfather’s dad may have stood. I also smile thinking one day my future grandkids might enjoy the shade of a tree that we planted or them playing on a playground that we built.

Park Operations Supervisor
Hi! I am a fourth generation Rockwall resident. I graduated from Rockwall High School in 1996. I have been with the Parks and Recreation Department for 3 years now and enjoy using my farm and ranch background to take care of our beautiful parks. I enjoy building, repairing and maintaining things around our city. My wife and I have been married 12 years and have 3 beautiful daughters. We own and operate Pullen Fencing and Honeys Shaved Ice in our spare time. I enjoy competing in team roping, when time allows. My daughters are also rodeoing now… I’m learning to coach them in barrel racing, pole bending and goat tying! I’m proud to be part of such a wonderful community as this.
