Messages from the Mayor

A Letter from Mayor Pruitt about the COVID-19 Vaccine:

I have been asked many times lately about the availability of the Covid-19 vaccine in our City and how we are going to distribute it.

The distribution of the vaccine is administered by the State with no local input as to where or when it is delivered. Local governments do not even know where it will be delivered until it is placed on the State Dashboard. The link to the latest information can be found here. On the right hand side of this home page, you can access week-by-week allocations of the vaccine.

After three weeks of vaccine distribution in Texas, Rockwall County has only received the following doses:

- Healthcare Associates of Irving, LLP 6435 South FM 549, Rockwall: 100 doses.

- Sandknop Health Group 1005 W. Ralph Hall Pkwy, Rockwall: 500 doses

- Baylor Scott and White Medical Center - Lake Pointe 6800 Scenic Dr., Rowlett: 700 doses

Total for Rockwall County after three weeks is only 1,300 doses of the vaccine. At this rate, it will take 254 weeks to make it available to everyone in Rockwall County.

A Message to Our Rockwall Community: March 30, 2020

We have not had a confirmed case of COVID-19 in four days now.  The City of Rowlett has a new confirmed case in the Rockwall County portion of their city. This makes the total for Rockwall County at 5.  Please continue your efforts in staying home.  If you know of an elderly neighbor,  please reach out to them to see if they are ok or need anything.  We will overcome this together.

A Message to Our Rockwall Community: March 28, 2020

The ages of the individuals are: 42, 50 and 82, and all of these reside within the City of Rockwall. They are all being monitored by health officials. Please keep each of these individuals in your thoughts and prayers.

Moving forward, health officials will monitor these cases and provide additional details as they become available to the extent that private patient information can be released. If you have questions, please call the Rockwall County Coronavirus Task Force at (972) 204-7080.

A Message to Our Rockwall Community: March 21, 2020

I wanted to share with you my growing concern surrounding the COVID-19 virus which has swept through our nation and around the world. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who have been adversely impacted already or will be impacted in the coming days, weeks, and months. I have been in continuous contact with local and state health authorities monitoring the coronavirus response. Telephonic meetings are held regularly with the county and city health authorities, doctors, EMS, county officials, city officials and elected officials of each city in Rockwall County to update the effect this is having on our community as well as adapting to the changing nature of this health crisis.
